Overview | Eligibility | Categories | Repertoire | Application The purpose of the Artist Presentation Society auditions is to seek out gifted young musicians and provide a forum to display their talent. The Society holds annual auditions in St. Louis. Applicants are selected to audition based on their performance on a CD submitted with the application. Successful candidates perform at the auditions before a jury of professional musicians. Winners are selected based on their readiness to embark on a career in music. All candidates receive written feedback on their performance from the jury. Each winner is presented in public recital during the following concert season and receives a $1,000 cash award. The 2008 auditions were held on Saturday, April 26 at Unity Christ Church, 33 N. Skinker Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105. The date for the 2009 auditions will be announced later. Auditions are open to the public at no charge.
Performance
categories include solo instruments, voice and small ensembles. The
audition repertoire shall consist of 75 minutes of music to include each of the
historical periods: baroque, classical, romantic, and contemporary. Exceptions
will be made in the Singers shall include selections in four languages, one of which is English. The
duration of the audition shall be 20 minutes. The judges will select works from
each period to be performed during the audition.
