Jesus David Milano Melgarejo - 2026 Award Winner
Born in the small city of Guatire, Venezuela, Jesus David Milano Melgarejo’s career as a classical musician has led him to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls in USA and Europe such as the Carnegie Hall, Mann Center for the Performing Arts in Philadelphia, the Verizon Hall, Musikverein in Vienna, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Tonhalle Zurich, Tonhalle St. Gallen, Basel Casino, Yehudi Menuhin Forum Bern, Stadttheater Biel and Kongresshaus Biel under the direction of renowned conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel, Sir Simon Rattle, Paavo Järvi, Stéphane Denève, Leonard Slatkin, Rafael Payare, Johannes Schlaefli, Yannis Pouspourikas, Christoph-Mathias Mueller.
Jesus David earned his bachelor’s degree (2021) and master’s degree (2024) focusing on orchestra at Zurich University. While a student there, he played as a volunteer at the Opernhaus Zurich, as well as completing an internship at the Biel Solothurn Orchestra for the 2022/23 season. During that year he also participated in the Verbier Festival in Switzerland. Currently he is working on a graduate certificate at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music studying with Maestro Yehuda Gilad.
Concert Details:
He will perform Clarinet Concerto No. 2 in E-flat Major, Op. 74 by Carl Maria von Weber with the St. Louis Philharmonic Orchestra on Oct. 16, 2026.
